My favorite Dr. Seuss book. In case you were wondering.

Dr. Seuss is a pretty famous guy.  We can all agree on that, right?  I mean, who doesn't know One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish and Green Eggs and Ham?  Or allllll of those books made famous by the movies, The Grinch That Stole Christmas, The Cat in the Hat, Horton Hears a Who, and (released today) The Lorax?  But this one, And to Think I Saw it on Mulberry Street, is my absolute favorite.  It is the first children's book that he wrote (1937) and tells a great story of a little boy who has a habit of turning "minnows into whales"...taking the ordinary and exaggerating it into a fantastic whopper of a tale.  Love. It.

It also happens to be a great book to read aloud.  It has the classic rhymes that Dr. Seuss is famous for, but does not use as many made up words or tongue twisters as some of his other books.

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
