Full Steam Ahead

So many things to do, so little time to do them!  But, from here on out, it's full steam ahead until the end of the school year...which is in 12 more days.  I mean only 8 more school days for the kids, and then 2 post planning days and I went ahead and threw in next weekend just because I want the count to be official.

Here's what I know, Friends....
  • Quinn wanted his nails - toes and fingers - painted last weekend.  So I made a swipe of color across his toes (he opted for mint so that we could match.  Isn't that what every mom wants - matching toenails with her son?  :) ) and we compromised that I would paint his thumbs.   Q was then devastated when one of the girls that works at his school told him that he was a girl.  So, we talked about it and decided that it was ok for him to have his nails painted - rockstars paint their nails.  So, Tuesday morning he walked into school, held his hands up proudly and announced, "I AM A WOCKSTAR!"  And then he was just fine.
  • We are heading out to my parents' house today to celebrate my stepdad's birthday.  Chris and I worked together and made a chocolate eclair cake.  We call it chocolate delight but have learned that it is very different from the chocolate delight that most people make.  My ex-high school- boyfriends mother used to make this and I begged her for the recipe so that my mother could start making it and somewhere along the way it became my dish to make.  The kids are PUMPED because it will be the first swim day of the season at Meme and Pops'.  I can't wait to see Q on the diving board.
  • I have lots of great jewelry stuff in the works and can't wait to share it with you!  Yay!
  • Work has been super stressful these days.  We're losing our principal, assistant principal, instructional coach, secretary, quite a few teachers and, big sigh, my media clerk.  The clerk position is slated to be cut next year, so after much debate, she turned in her retirement paperwork yesterday.  I really don't know what I am going to do without her.  I have a hard time thinking about next year and really being able to wrap my brain around even just the logistics of  it all.  Big sigh.

I'm really, really sad for Nancy, and for Gaines. :( Emailed her this morning.
